I’m back! So sorry for my disappearance over the last couple of weeks. We’ve had a lot going on in our little East Tennessee community, but we are Smokies Strong and we WILL rebuild. I had this post planned for the week of/ shortly after Thanksgiving. And then with the delay thought I would add a few variations to the recipe to mix it up a little for you… thanks to evacuations, head colds, and now a sick baby, that never happened. I figured I better get to posting my original recipe before I wake up and it’s April.
I am 100% the girl that LOVES Pinterest and a good Pinterest recipe however my execution is lacking. Much like the Pinterest fails you see but maybe just a little less embarrassing. My skills are limited but there are still a few there!
I found TONS of recipes but decided that I had the general idea and was going to wing it. I melted 1lb of milk chocolate in the microwave. You can do this a number of ways but the slower it melts via indirect heat, the better likelihood you have of tempering the chocolate. This keeps it from getting a waxy look once it has cooled. I didn’t mind though and went the quick and easy route with the microwave. It’s chocolate after all, my family was going to eat it either way!
Once melted, I spread it out on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and started sprinkling on my toppings. I used dried cranberries and candied walnuts but the possibilities are endless here! Use as many of your favorite things as your heart desires. Next I melted a small amount of white chocolate, maybe 1/16 or 1/8 of a pound and drizzled it over the top with a piping bag. I bet you can guess, do this however you’d like! When you’re all finished being creative, just pop it in the freezer for an hour or so to stand up and break it into pieces with a knife. Ta Da! Ready to eat or put together gift bags! A perfect addition to the dessert table and a great gift for the Holidays. Enjoy!
Love Always, K
