Nightly Sink Cleanse | Spring Cleaning Series

Over the years I have developed a love for a clean and disinfected sink. So much so that I get anxious now when the dishes are not done. I don’t like the thought of all the bacteria on dirty dishes and I don’t like the impression it gives to guests in our home.

Now that my little is a year old his fingers touch absolutely everything. So for the sake of his health and safety, I have made the conscious decision to switch out our cleaning products for more natural options. In my recent hunt for homemade cleaning product recipes I found this blog post and used her nightly sink scrub recipe to make my own. I adjusted it slightly by using tea tree oil, a natural disinfectant, rather than the clove oil that her recipe calls for.

3 Easy Ingredients:

2 Cups – Baking Soda
10-20 drops – Tea Tree Oil
10-20 drops – Lemon Essential Oil

Directions:

  • Mix the 3 ingredients above in a glass storage container (essential oils will eventually break down plastic). I prefer storing in a mason jar and mixing with a butter knife.
  • Sprinkle in your sink
  • Add dish or castile soap to the sink
  • Scrub with a non abrasive sponge
  • Rinse
  • Dry

A pint jar of the mixture lasts me about 7 scrubs.

Remember to store in a cool, dry, dark place (under the sink) for the sake of the essential oils, and enjoy!

Love Always, K
